Lettre finale du champ de la Mission - Final Letter from the Mission Field

Bonjour à tous!

It's hard to think that my time as a full-time representative of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is nearing its end. I will forever be grateful for the decision I made 2 years ago to serve my Saviour. These past 2 years have been a time of much challenge and hardship. The work wasn't always successful, the weather bitterly cold, the language and culture, tough companions, being away from family and friends. You would think at the end of it all you wouldn't find joy anywhere. But it's amazing how even through all these difficulties I have experienced the most joy I've ever experienced in my life. Being able to participate in and help Laura progress has been the greatest experience. I have a deep love for her and her family and look forward to seeing her seal the deal in the temple come September!

Being able to serve these people and see these people who I love so dearly has been the greatest experience I have been a part of. There is nothing like seeing someone change from a life of sin and through the power of the spirit and atonement of Christ become as a new child and become so strong.

I have truly loved being able to represent the Lord. I thank the mission for helping me realize that we truly do have a loving father in heaven, who gave his son Jesus Christ to save us from sin so that we can receive the full blessings of Heavenly Father. So that we could overcome any trial and challenge that we face. Its such a great knowledge to know we are never a lone. Thanks to the mission I have been able to have my own personal relationship with my Saviour and have more fully come to appreciate and love the Atonement of Christ.

I know now that this church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is really the true church on the earth. I have no doubt Joseph Smith was a prophet and he headed the restoration of the fullness of the gospel onto the earth and thanks to him we now have the power of the priesthood in our lives to bless us and perform sacred ordinances. I have a strong testimony of the "small and simple things." The small and simple things such as scripture study, prayer, church (the basics). I know that it's through these things that will bring us so much peace and safety and as we hearken unto these things every day the Holy Ghost will always be with us! I know and believe the gospel of Christ is the only way we can be saved through the principles of Faith, Repentance and the ordinances of Baptism and receiving the gift of the holy ghost and enduring to the end.

I'm so grateful the Lord decided to send me this this great place Montréal. I know that this is truly the place I was supposed to spend these past two years. This place will always have a special place in my heart. I love these people never before have I seen such devotion and faithfulness. I will be eternally grateful for these people and for helping me receive my testimony and really helping me becoming a better disciple of Christ. I will deeply miss these people but I will forever cherish my friendships I have made.

Nothing for me has been harder than to walk away from the game of football that I love so much and had put so much blood, sweat, and tears into. Having to deal with not being able to play and not being able to work on my game has been so hard. It has taken every ounce of faith in the Lord to continue to keep moving forward. I am comforted to know that the Lord will provide and as we put him in our lives first he will help us. I believe coming on the mission has helped me become a better me and with all the experiences I've gone through i believe I'll become a better player as well.

Most importantly I've really learned the importance of the family. I am so grateful for the amazing family I have been blessed with. It's amazing how being away from my family and helping other families receive the blessings of the gospel has had a great impact on me. I look forward to having my own family which will be centered on the gospel of Christ and centred on our Saviour Jesus Christ because that is the only way for true and eternal happiness. I'm grateful for the plan of Salvation which allows us to live with our families forever!

The mission has been amazing. Thank you all for your love and support in this two year journey. This is just the beginning of continuous service for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! I look forward to my next transfer in Bountiful Utah. Love you all so much!

À bientôt!

Bonjour Famille!

Welcome to December! Wow how time flies! I've really been reflecting a lot lately on the past 24 months and how much I've grown and how much the family back home has grown as well. I'll keep this brief..but will be wrapping everything up next week!

This week we had a great opportunity to find 2 new investigators from a member family who are Filippino it was cool. We have been trying to work with these 2 girls for a while now but on Saturday they finally decided they would be ready to meet and talk about the church. We brought them to the temple open house and we believe that really opened up their hearts. The girls were even praising us for the love we have been showing it was a real tender mercy of the Lord.

Also yesterday at church with the launch of the new Christmas initiative. The missionaries mission wide were asked to share 5 minutes and introduce the initiative to the members so we can really work together on this. Since Greenfield Park is so awesome they had us teach the whole 3rd hour combined meeting. It went super well we taught about Hastening the Work and how we really need the members to be our source of finding new investigators and read from PMG where it promises if members become the source of finding new investigators baptisms will increase and converts will remain active. It went well and we could really feel the members were accepting it. It's so true though the work goes so much better when members refer their friends and family.  All of my baptisms have been member referrals and they have all have remained active and are strong. I look forward to becoming a member and will try my best to refer my friends to the missionaries!

Well it's crazy this is it..Gonna have a good busy week! Look forward to seeing y'all soon. Have a great week!

Love y'all so much!

Avec Amour!

Bonjour Famille!

Wow so awesome to hear that East was able to finally win that State Championship! I'm really happy for Matich and finally being able to win. Not only win it all but do it in dominating fashion. I am also so happy Kelee is now a state champion! Something his brothers never even came close to doing. Such a testament to his hard work and character. I'm so happy he is at East and enjoying it all! Pretty funny Coach K has those feelings towards TV. Pretty amazing the East football program did that for Meti and his family!

Cool to hear Kelee and y'all went down to BYU. Such cool pics with Uani. Man thats so awesome Teu did that for him. Gosh I'm so happy I chose to play for BYU some of the best dudes I've ever met. As with them I'm so anxious to see them all again!

Also happy to hear y'all went and supported Meti. I really miss that guy and look forward to seeing him again. Like him I'm so glad i chose to go and play a year instead of going right out on the mission! It has really helped me be able to touch the hearts of so many people. Its amazing to hear how strong he was in deciding to stay out. Its so true the atonement is the best!

Well things are good out here! The temple dedication was awesome. It was just so cool for me to be able to watch and be here for this historic event. The members up here are so happy and it feels good to have their temple back. Bishop Causse of the presiding bishopric in his remarks yesterday said the temple is our safe house and we need to take full advantage of it. It was also neat to see and have President Eyring dedicate the temple. Laura also had the privilege of attending at the temple, gosh she was so happy and I was equally happy for her!

Things are good out here! Thanks for your love!
Miss you guys! Look forward to seeing y'all soon!

The House of the Lord: "this was the room where they all started"

Bonjour Famille!

Yes its already been such a huge blessing having the temple around. We can definitely feel the excitement of its opening. Since we are in the temple area we have the privilege of going a few times and will be going a lot more this week. We even had the opportunity to do parking duty on Saturday which was great haha. There were a ton of visitors from the States and it was so good to see people from my previous areas as well.

Really happy to hear Kelee and the Boys took care of business this past week! Man sounds like they are really playing well right now. I'm super excited for Kelee to be able to play up at the stadium at the U, Rice Eccles, this week. I can remember playing up there and it was such a thrill to be on that field as a high school player! Hope he enjoys it! So good to hear Alema reached out to Kelee as well. I love that man a lot and happy he is having success at Alta. I too agree that this is the best thing for Kelee. He has grown in so many ways since he started, he is really far ahead of me haha

Well we had a super cool experience with the temple open house. So this past week we had invited the Mangatay's to come to the temple with us but brother Mangatay was really shy and hesitant about it and you could tell he didn't really want to go but we kept calling him throughout the week and he eventually said okay to going on Saturday night. So we went and it was a great experience! He and is family really loved the temple and you could tell they were feeling it. While in the sealing room their 11 year-old son mentioned that "this was the room where they all started" and kept reminding his family about that special day. Afterwards Bro Mangatay thanked us for coming with them and that he really enjoyed it. Then yesterday at our dinner with Bishop Lopez he thanked us for the work we have done with the Mangatays and told us he interviewed the parents and they both now have temple recommends! Gosh its awesome!

Well things are great! Transfer call was Saturday. No change for us I will finish out my last 4 weeks with elder Blackwelder here in Greenfield Park South Shore for which I am grateful.

Avec Amour!
